Just over a year into Joe Biden’s four-year war against gun owners and the Second Amendment, the fight to secure our freedoms has turned from an arial bombardment into trench warfare.
The depraved legislation that we saw filed every other day in Congress has tapered off, as gun owners sent a message to the United States Senate that passing bills like H.R. 121, S. 746, and others like it would lead to their obliteration in November.
And while that’s a success for gun owners to be sure, in many ways, the threats that we are facing right now in Congress are more dangerous and more insidious than the bills above because these threats have bipartisan support and could pass the Senate!
Take the Violence Against Women Act (S.3623), for example.
This bill initiates a criminal investigation every time someone fails a NICS check (even though they are almost always false positives) and temporarily federalizes local cops and prosecutors so they can prosecute violations of this bill in federal court.
If passed, S. 3623 will unleash federally funded havoc on gun owners. Despite that, this bill has the tacit support of the NRA and has been cosponsored by almost a dozen Republicans in the Senate and may be voted on very soon!
Georgia Gun Owners has been fighting against this legislation since last year, doing everything we can to flood Senators’ Warnock and Ossoff with calls, emails, and petitions in opposition to it — and we’re not letting up!
This is just one of the compromised bills that we’re dealing with in Congress right now — there are at least four others.
Of course, we are also working overtime to advance Constitutional Carry in Atlanta, too.
Twenty-one other states have enacted this legislation which simply allows law abiding gun owners to carry a firearm for any lawful reason without having to have their name added to a government database like a sex offender!
But despite years of vain promises from Governor Kemp, Georgians have been held back, with Constitutional Carry being killed in committee again and again.
This year — facing a state full of angry gun owners and a primary from Trump-endorsed David Purdue — Governor Kemp is counting on passing this bill to shore up his re-election.
And between that and the massive number of calls and emails that GGO members have been sending into the legislature, GGO’s Constitutional Carry legislation in the Senate (SB-319) has 31 cosponsors and has passed the Judiciary Committee.
But we are still facing an uphill battle, and we need to keep hammering on the legislature to insist passage of this bill.
Of course, Georgia Gun Owners is also gearing up for what will be an explosive 2022 midterm election cycle thanks to Joe Biden’s complete incompetence, which is sending his party’s poll numbers to levels that we haven’t seen in decades!
Frankly, other than fighting to pass pro-gun bills or defeat gun control bills during session, there is nothing more important for a gun rights organization to do than expose gun-grabbers at election time.
Georgia Gun Owners revels in this task and over the years our radio, TV, and digital ads — combined with our direct mail, slicks and ground game programs — have been devastatingly effective and paved the way for our legislative success!
The May primaries and the fall midterms present us with a chance to send a MASSIVE MESSAGE that Georgia stands for freedom and the Second Amendment, and that ANYONE who votes against that will pay the price.
But we aren’t funded by an out-of-state billionaire. Everything we do is because of the members of Georgia Gun Owners who so generously give us the resources we need to FIGHT for them!
As you can see, GGO is fighting non-stop at the federal, state, and local level to defend the Second Amendment, and we are gearing up for an all-out war later on in the year.
If you are not yet a member of Georgia Gun Owners, I hope that you’ll join in this fight to help us safeguard our right to keep and bear arms for the next generation to enjoy.
