Long days, late nights, and LOTS of grassroots activism.
That’s what it took to STOP House Bill 541 at the Capitol in Atlanta today!
Thanks to the pressure applied by your calls and emails, House Bill 541 was pulled back in Alan Powell’s Public Safety Committee.
And boy oh boy, Alan Powell was FURIOUS!
On the way into the committee room, Powell moaned and complained to me about all the calls and emails.
Just inches behind Powell was the establishment gun lobbyist who was praised in the committee for helping to write the bill by the bill’s author.
My response to Powell’s was simple: “Why would you give time in committee to the gun-grabbers and not give us time for Constitutional Carry?”
Another Republican legislator, Eddie Lumsden said: “All those emails are pissing me off!”
My response: “Keep complaining, we’ll send some more.”
One legislator even said he had received close to 600 emails by 10 AM!
Make no bones about it, your pressure blew the lid off this committee and this bill.
But we’re not out of the woods just yet.
Tomorrow is day 28, Crossover Day, so we should expect the gun-grabbers to try and attach this draconian gun control legislation to another bill.
Hard left anti-gun State Rep. Scott Holcomb tweeted this just after the committee ended:
“We may be able find another bill that we can attach it to.”
Tomorrow will be a busy day at the Capitol in Atlanta.
Back room deals, last second arm twisting, trading away your rights.
We can’t let that happen.
